(Maria) Morgan-Snell: is a self-taught artist, painter, sculptor and engraver, born in Brazil in 1920. She settled in 1948 in Paris, where she received numerous commissions for mural paintings for churches. In her work, she glorifies the human body, drawing inspiration from Homeric or biblical mythological scenes. With a perfect knowledge of anatomy, she paints the beauty of human shapes in motion and sculpts characters with protruding muscles.
Works: notably Fountain, Maternity, the Son of Rhea at the Museum of Modern Art, the Sea Captors at the Hotel des Postes in Sables-d’Olonne (commissioned by the State), the Presentation of the Virgin at the Temple, the Pentecost at the Church of the Trinity in Paris (commissioned by the City of Paris); numerous works acquired by national and foreign museums and in private collections,
