Crystal cup signed BOREK SIPEK (1949 - 2016)

Crystal cup of Val-Saint-Lambert signed BOREK SIPEK (1949 – 2016) and numbered 18175.

China green lined crystal cup with a wide protruding edge cut of diamond points in clear crystal, placed on light satin foot. Signed and numbered on the outside of the cup.

H: 18 cm, diam: 27 cm.

Presence of a minimal chip in the crown.

Borek Sipek (Prague, 14/06/1949 – 13/02/2016)

Borek Sipek was born in Prague (Czech Republic) in 1949 and studied furniture design at the School of Arts and Crafts in Prague.

Between 1969 and 1974, he studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Hamburg (Germany).

Between 1970 and 1980: the Val Saint Lambert collaborates intensively with external creators (Samuel Herman, Yann Zoritchac, Philippe Starck, Frans Van Praet, Martin Szekely…) and Borek Sipek. In 1979, he took his doctorate in architecture at the Technical University of Delft and became a professor of design theory at the University of Essen.

In 1983, he opened “Architecture & Design Studio” in Amsterdam. In 1990, he was appointed professor of architecture at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and

also became Architect of the Court of Prague Castle appointed by Václav Havel, president of the former Czechoslovakia, later the Czech Republic.

His works are included in many international collections.
