Black bowl, Val-Saint-Lambert

Black cup, signed on the reverse of the VSL logo, made with color pigments, for the Val-Saint-Lambert factory in Jemeppe.

Its ebony color, plain, evokes the lacquer and the Japonist current of the early twentieth century, dates from its production. Romain Gevaert, the head of this unit, and his wife, Jeanne Trixhon, liked to make blown glass pieces similar to ceramics or lacquer.

It is a mouth-blown piece, which was not made in a mold. A rare collector’s item for the Belgian artistic heritage. The bottom of the part shows signs of wear.

Diameter: 25.5 cm, height: 6.5 cm
