Clipboard with the effigy of Albert I

Rare paperweight in clear crystal, lined red, with a blue background, decorated with some millefioris, on which rests the portrait of Albert I, king of the Belgians.

The stylized cut evokes a production at the Val-Saint-Lambert crystal factory. The sulfide represents the young King, in profile, with his chin raised. The cut highlights the central cameo and surrounds it with a frieze of laurels.

No signature or branding.

It is likely that this paperweight was manufactured around 1934, at the time of the King’s death.

Interesting historical piece.
