Vase signed Bert Van Loo (1946 -2016)

Crystal vase executed by the Dutch designer Bert Van Loo in Val-Saint-Lambert in 2003, during a “glass meeting”. Signed and dated to the base. The vase has, under a layer of clear crystal, a beige surface adorned with red and black drawings, made by the hot technique of the Grail, making it a unique piece.

A similar model is exhibited at the Château du Val-Saint-Lambert in the exhibition “Cristal vivant”.

Bert van Loo (1946 – 2016) was a Dutch sculptor who worked primarily with glass. He was active in the Netherlands and China.

Bert van Loo trained as a sculptor at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam from 1969 to 1973. He worked mainly with glass, often in combination with bronze, lead, stone and wood. He has taught and lectured at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, the Royal College of Art in London, Kent State University (Ohio), as well as many other art schools in Europe, the USA, Japan, Australia and China. From 1975 to 2014, he was also an advisor and curator for various organizations.

He has created works in public space in the Netherlands and China. Bert van Loo has also had solo exhibitions with other artists in the Netherlands and most European countries, as well as in America, Australia, Japan and China.

He won several awards and in 2006 had a retrospective at the Museum Fundación Centro Del Glossy, La Granja, Segovia, Spain. His works are in the collections of various museums, private collections and corporate collections.
